Harewood House
Located just outside Leeds, Harewood House, the family seat of the Lascelles family is one of the grandest stately homes in Yorkshire.
It provides grandeur on a massive scale, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Yorkshire.
Harewood offers two private venues for the ceremony and three venues for the reception.

Ripley Castle
One of Yorkshire's great historic houses, Ripley Castle is located between Harrogate and Ripon. Among
those of late middle age, it's probably best remembered as the setting for the YTV series "The Flaxton Boys".
The home of the Ingilby family for the last 700 years, it's historic and utterly picturesque. It's hard to
imagine a better backdrop for wedding photos.
There's a hotel in the village, and lots of hotels in nearby Harrogate.

Goldsborough Hall
Dating back to the 17th century, but much remodelled over the years, Goldsborough Hall is situated just outside the
utterly picturesque town of Knaresborough.
Still privately owned, it now doubles as a 5AA Star country hotel with six luxury suites, including two bridal suites.
Various wedding packages are available.

Victoria Hall - Saltaire
Situated in the heart of Titus Salt's incredible "model" village, Victoria Hall was built in 1869 as the
institute for the mill workers.
Situated just outside Shipley on the banks of the River Aire, Saltaire is a World Heritage Site today, and
attracts flocks of tourists.
No shortage of things for your guests to see
if they need to take a short break from proceedings.
Saltaire also has its own railway station with
trains to Leeds, Bradford and Skipton.
This is more a venue to hire than one offering complete packages. With options to choose your own caterer,
wine,florist etc. Rooms available for both the ceremony and the reception.

East Riddlesden Hall
Located near Keighley, East Riddlesden Hall is an atmospheric 17th Century merchants house. Owned by the
National Trust, it's maintained to the exacting standards we expect of the NT. The house simply oozes atmosphere.
Weddings can take place in The Great Hall, or the beamed Airedale Barn, and The Barn is the reception venue.
There are no standard packages, but you are expected to use suppliers from the NT preferred supplier list.

Castle Howard
Famous for its starring role in Brideshead Revisited, this massive stately home is set in beautiful rolling
countryside on the edge of the Howardian Hills. Undoubtedly Yorkshire's top stately home.
Available for weddings over the Summer, with reception either in the house or in a marquee in the grounds.
The venue for the civil ceremony is the incredible "Temple of the Four Winds". Possibly the most
romantic venue in the world.

Bolton Castle
A magnificent mediaeval fotress set in the heart of Wensleydale, Bolton Castle has been in the hands of
the same family since it was completed in 1399. Which explains quite how remarkably well preserved it is.
Civil ceremonies and receptions are available, receptions giving exclusive use of the castle. Purely venue hire, giving the flexibility to make your own
arrangements.

Fountains Abbey
The finest abbey in England, Fountains forms part of the incredible Studley Royal Water Gardens. Managed by
the NT, Fountains is set in the most beautiful grounds imaginable and is now a World Heritage Site.
Civil ceremonies are held in the 16th century Fountains Hall, and the reception likewise or in the restaurant (exclusive use) or a marquee.

National Rail Museum
The massive National Rail Museum at York is available for civil ceremonies and receptions. Capable
of hosting events for up to 500 people, this must be the ultimate location for any transport buff.
The
guests can even dine on the central platform among the trains!
Packages are available and can be tailored as required.

Roundhay Park Mansion
Roundhay Park is the jewel in the crown of Leeds Parks Department. Millions of pounds of
lottery money has been squandered invested over the last few years on refurbishing the park.
The final part of the refurbishment was The Mansion, done only after a massive revolt by local voters.
And the house is now in fabulous condition. Ceremonies and receptions can be held in a number of different rooms to accomodate different sized parties.

The Hospitium in York
In the grounds of the Yorkshire Museum, the Hospitium is a great venue, and just a stone's throw away from the Railway Station.
A two storey 14th century building, civil ceremonies can be held here, and the reception can be held here,
or at York Art Gallery, or even in the Victorian Street in the Castle Museum.
How cool is that!

Merchant Adventurers' Hall in York
Located just off Fossgate, this magnificent building is available for both ceremonies and receptions.
As there are so many historic churches within a few minutes walk - it could easily be paired with
a church ceremony as the reception venue.
There's a noce walled garden too - so plenty of flexibility.

Lotherton Hall
A minor stately home near the A1 just outside Leeds, Lotherton has been owned by the council for a good number of years now. And they've looked after it well.
The house is set in lovely gardens and surrounded by a deer park. There's a very good Bird Garden too.
Ceremonies are held in the Drawing Room .

Newburgh Priory
Rumoured to be the last resting place of Oliver Cromwell's head - Newburgh is a wonderful stately home
at the foot of the North York Moors near Sutton Bank. A very classy venue indeed.
There's a choice of rooms for the ceremony, and receptions can be held either in the house or in a marquee in the grounds.

Duncombe Park
Just outside Helmsley, Duncombe was one of the great houses of Yorkshire before being used as a school. Rescued some years ago,
the house has been extensively restored and the state rooms are now magnificent again.
Two different rooms are available for the ceremony and there's a choice of venues for the reception .

Barley Hall - York
Tucked away in the middle of York, this wonderful mediaeval merchant's house is owned by York Archaelogical Trust and
is licensed for civil ceremonies. And what a great organisation YAT are.
Barley Hall can be used for the ceremony, the reception or both.

Cannon Hall Museum - Barnsley
Set in 70 acres of parkland in South Yorkshire, this council owned venue is available for civil ceremonies and receptions.
The Ballroom and the Library are both available, and a marquee can always be used for larger events.
And judging by the prices quoted on the website it offers remarkable value for money.

Don Valley Stadium
Built for the World Student Games in 1991, Don Valley Stadium is probably the best known major event venue in
South Yorkshire.
If you're not planning to invite 50,000 guests, you may be pleased to know that there are several
banqueting halls available for hire. Purely a reception venue, not licensed for ceremonies.

Beningbrough Hall
Near Yokr, Beningbrough is in the care of the National Trust, and is set in beautiful grounds just a bicycle
ride outside the city.
Two different rooms are available for the ceremony and there's a choice of venues for the reception.

Cutlers' Hall Sheffield
Located bang in the middle of the city, Cutlers' Hall is the most prestigious venue in Sheffield.
Licensed for ceremonies and an ideal venue as well. It's a bit like the tardis, looks like nothing from
the outside, but magnificent on the inside.

Elland Road
Home of the mighty Leeds United - it's licensed for ceremonies and a variety of rooms are available.
Ideal venue for a Leeds United Fan.

Ormesby Hall - Middlesborough
A magnificent palladian mansion on Teesside. This is a great venue for a ceremony and reception
for up to 100 people.
In the care of the National Trust - so plenty of experience to organise everything.

Sledmere House
The best stately home in the Wolds. Sledmere is full of character, and is absolutely unique. It represents
the absolute peak of High Farming in Yorkshire.

The Priests House - Barden Tower
Situated in the very heart of Wharfedale, The Priests House is adjacent to Barden Tower,
halfway betweeen Bolton Abbey and Grassington. This is one of the very loveliest settings in the dales.
Licensed for ceremonies, this is a small intimate venue, and there's a bunk barn on site sleeping 24, which
can be very useful for revellers.

Newby Hall
On the banks of the Ure near Ripon, Newby is a grand stately home with interiors by Robert Adam. Being
just off the A1 makes it a great location.
Ceremonies can be held in the Statue Gallery or the Library, and receptions in the grounds or the house.

Oakwell Hall - Batley
Just outside Batley, this 16th century Manor House is now the centrepiece of a country park..
Ceremonies for up to 50, and receptions for up to 80.

Wortley Hall - Sheffield
Possibly the most politically correct wedding venue in Yorkshire. Ideal for anyone with strong
Trade Union or Co-Op loyalties.
Two different rooms are available for the ceremony and accommodation.

Sheffield United
Bramall Lane is situated just outside Sheffield City Centre, and even has its own hotel nowadays.
The size of the place gives great flexibility for both ceremonies and receptions.

The Spa - Bridlington
Now completely refurbished, The Spa at Brid is a very fine venue indeed. The sheer size of it makes
for a great deal of flexibility, and the backdrop of the sea for wedding photos is very special and very unusual.
Obviously, there's no shortage of accommodation for guests in the immediate vicinity.

Skipton Castle
Skipton is the best preserved mediaeval castle in Yorkshire. It makes a wonderful venue for a wedding reception,
but unfortunately it's not licensed for civil ceremonies.
That's a great shame as the courtyard would make the most incredible wedding venue.

Treasurer's House - York
Just behind York Minster, the Treasurer's House has been extensively refurbished over the Winter of
2009/10 - and very smart indeed it is now.
Ceremonies take place in the Great Hall, and there's a
choice of two rooms for the reception with a capacity of up to 80.
Yet another property in the care of the National Trust, this has such a central location in York it's perfect.
